SpotterGuides.com and Le Mans

I originally announced this after last year’s Le Mans, but I have received a large number of emails and messages in recent days, so time to re-confirm.

After fourteen editions, there will not be a SpotterGuides.com Le Mans guide for 2021. As with most things in life, more than one reason for this.

While a good number of teams actively support the guide, a number of others are not supportive(as is their right), which increases the research, (in)accuracy and creation of the guides massively.

Emails and messages flow back from donwloaders,  asking why the free guide is not accurate etc, or bringing to light errors on other guides available! Neither is in my control, but an inaccurate guide is as useful as a chocolate teapot!

The arrival of the Official guide (to clarify, I have no issue, it is entirely their right)  and the increasing challenges of obtaining a sponsor in recent years despite 100,000-120,000 unique downloads has made production of the guides a challenging and unenjoyable project in recent years which takes me away from my my line of work

The #LM24 guides have been an amazing success with upwards of 120,000 downloads at its peak. A huge thank you to YOU once again for your support, downloads and additional exposure. I also wanted to say a huge thank you to the other sponsors who have been partners over that time including AERO Paint,  Dunlop and Nissan.

Also, a big shout out to all the media sites who have promoted the guide over the years. A long list, but Dailysportscar, Radio Le Mans, Marshall Pruett and Sportscar365 have always assisted and more recently r/WEC have been banging the drum massively.

IMSA guides WILL continue thanks to the supprt of the series and all, yes all, the teams. They have been awesome. I am looking to expand into other series in 2022 as we hopefully get back to some normality, but the guides are very time consuming to produce.

In the meantime, Mateusz Grosiak has produced an alternative guide for 2021, using some of my car line art to get him up and running. You can download his LM guide here…. https://spotters.guide

Many thanks for your support, past, present and future

Andy

2017 IMSA Spotter Guide now live

The Official 2017 IMSA Spotter Guide is now available to download at its own dedicated page.

The guide will also be available at the events section of IMSA.com

New regs, new cars, new liveries and lots of new driver combination makes the Official Spotter Guide a must. The guide will be updated later in the week with any driver or livery additions (probably after Tech is completed). Livery wise, all except Rebellion have previously been confirmed.

If you are at the circuit, a printed guide/program will be available later in the week.

The guide also features a number of my own liveries.

Thanks to the teams for their help with reference of the guides, to IMSA of course, the proof readers and you for downloading and sharing the guide!

2017 Official IMSA Spotter Guide schedule

I will be partnering with IMSA again in 2017 to produce their Official Spotter Guide for the series. This will be released in print form (at the track) and online.

The online guide will be available here, at SpotterGuides.com, and a smaller size version at IMSA.com from Tuesday 24th January. This will be kept updated during the week.

The guide will be updated prior to each event and the plan is to have this online on the Monday before the race from Round 2 (Sebring).

Spotter Guides and Andy Blackmore Design join DriveTribe

As you may have seen, a new social media platform has been launched called Drive Tribe. Fronted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond, the basic concept is centered around hundreds or groups, or Tribes as they prefer to call them. You can make your own tribe and you can join tribes which interest you.

DriveTribe has the potential to be successful, but we will see.

I was accepted to become a member of Drive Tribe a while back and had a tribe for a while as the platform was tested. Drive Tribe is now live, so welcome you to take a look at the two tribes I have created.

welcome_spotter

Spotter Guides, as you will have guessed centers on my Spotter Guide series. This is really more of a networking and information page where I announce Spotter Guide releases as I do on Twitter and Facebook.

You can join the Spotter Guide tribe here.

My other Tribe is titled, Liveries & Design, which covers liveries past, present and future. We look at Livery icons and also a review of liveries each month. This is currently an open tribe, so anyone can post.

THANK YOU!

2016, at least in Spotter Guide form is nearing a close, just one more Spotter Guide to be produced for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Finals in Valencia at the beginning of December.

As we are in between the Canadian and American Thanksgiving celebrations, it was only right for me to thank YOU for downloading the guides this year, thanks for ReTweeting, Sharing and Linking the many social media posts or maybe you publisized the Guides in a Blog. Thanks to each and every one of you.

Thank you to the many partners this year. Without there support, there would be no guides.

The realities are, along with ‘Andy Blackmore Design’ this is my career, its what pays the mortgage,  pays the bills, what enables me send my little girl to school. I’m very lucky in that I have a career I love, but I also need to pay the bills so I’m truly thankful.

So, huge  thanks to IMSA, who commission me to produce the online and supply art to their printed Official Spotter/ Fan Guides as well as supply car art for their website, app and merchandise.

In 2016, the partnership extended to supplying the official Spotter Guide for the Mazda Prototype Lites, Porsche GT3 Cup USA and the Porsche GT3 Cup Canada series.

dunlop_200

Thank you to Dunlop Motorsport Europe, who in a crowded space, partnered with me on the 2016 Dunlop Le Mans 24Hour Spotter Guide. This partnership included a large print run for fans and VIPs of Dunlop and Travel Destinations. The majority of team timing stands and commentary boxes had the guides taped up. As an example, I counted 10 sightings of the guide in the recent Sir Chris Hoy documentary on BBC.

Thank you to new partners Lamborghini Squadra Corsa and their marketing agency, Centigrade. We have produced guides for North American and European rounds of the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo Championship.

Thanks to everyone at CJ Wilson Racing. In addition to working with them on team identity and livery, we partnered to create a Spotter Guide for the CJ Wilson Racing Cayman Cup which ran in conjunction with TORA.
